Korea rugby digs deep and delivers at Shanghai Sevens

Our heroes made it three out of three at the Shanghai Sevens overcoming Hong Kong in a thrilling final at Yuangshen Stadium yesterday evening! Good news for Korean rugby and good enough with enough character to warrant a change in colour to this site!!

HK had eased smoothly into the final, looking comfortably the strongest side having dealt with Japan en route. After some very tough early exchanges, HK took the lead, Korea came back then HK scored twice. In the second half, Korea kept going and put on amazing pressure reulsting in a sin binning for a HK player. While they were down to six players, Korea scored and continued to press. With HK back to full strength, Korea kept the pressure on scoring with about a minute to go so making it 17-17 at full time. The game then went into "sudden death" and despite losing one man to the sin bin, Korea came through with a spectacular try to win the game...the final score included a turnover of possession, a strong drive, a reverse pass and then swift passing to put their player in...a 60m move in all....the very vocal Korean support in the crowd erupted and the Korean team started the celebration even before the touch down.
